What is broad-spectrum CBD oil?

A broad-spectrum oil typically consists of a hemp extract containing CBD and several other naturally occurring compounds from the plant. The manufacturer then combines the extract with a carrier oil. However, the exact composition may vary between different products and batches.

The term broad-spectrum describes the product type, but it does not by itself show the complete cannabinoid profile. The product information should therefore be supported by a current certificate of analysis that corresponds to the correct batch.

What do 10%, 25% and 50% CBD oil mean?

The percentage indicates the declared concentration of CBD in the product. A higher percentage therefore means a greater declared amount of CBD in relation to the volume of oil. However, the concentration does not automatically provide information about the origin of the raw material, documentation or other ingredients.

When comparing the options, you should therefore check both the bottle volume and the total declared amount of CBD. This makes it easier to understand the difference between 10% broad-spectrum CBD oil, 25% broad-spectrum CBD oil and 50% broad-spectrum CBD oil.

Check the cannabinoid profile and certificate of analysis

A certificate of analysis, often abbreviated as COA, presents the laboratory results for a specific product or batch. The document may include information about identified cannabinoids, analytical methods, reporting limits and the date of analysis.

In addition, the document should be traceable to the product through a batch number or another clear identifier. A general or older certificate may not necessarily describe the production batch that is currently in stock.

How to compare CBD oil

Start by comparing the concentration, volume, ingredients and available batch information. Then check whether the product is based on isolate, broad-spectrum extract or another product form.

You should also look for clear information about the cannabinoid profile, storage and stated intended use. A higher percentage is not automatically a better measure of quality, as documentation, traceability and laboratory data also play an important role.
